ST. ANDREA Egri Bikavér Superior 'Merengő' 2021

£32.50

Merengő is the flagship red wine of the St Andrea Winery, and this award-winning Egri Bikavér Superior is a powerful vintage from their best barrels.

It is a deep ruby colour. The very attractive, rich nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, and forest berries opens out to include forest soil and a floral touch. This is a fantastic, mouth-filling wine with well-integrated tannins and acidity and a long finish with a compelling volcanic and chalky minerality.

Food Pairing

The wine's intense character goes very well with meaty dishes like a traditional Hunter's stew. Meanwhile, the fruity palate would pair beautifully with noodles and traditional semi-hard cheese like Baracskai.

Serving temperature: 15-17°C

Details

Grape varieties: Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch), Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir & Kadarka
